my new apartment?

Well, my lovely girlfriend looks to have found me an apartment room when I move over. Some of you were under the impression that I was going to be living with her. Well, we've both decided it'll be nice for me to have my own space, and I'd hate to kick her current flatmate out.

So here's the apartment she's found. Sofie's girlfriend was living with a boyfriend here, but they've split up and now she's moving out. so now the boyfriend needs a room mate. He's an artist and lived in the US for a year, so speaks good English.

The window above the doorway is the kitchen and the one tot he right of that would be my room.

This would be my room.

Here's the living room/kitchen.

And a funky, slightly confusing European bathroom.

So, lets hope I get in here. It'll be nice to be on the 1st floor and it's only a couple blocks from Sofie's in the hip Prenzlauerberg district of Berlin. The rent is only around $300 Euros a month also!

Let the countdown continue...

She packed my bags, pre-flight...

Well, your friendly Rocket Man is set for takeoff. I bought my tickets yesterday. 07 March, 2007. 02:00 PM. One-way. Here's the deets:

Wed, Mar 07

2:00 PM - Depart Jacksonville, FL
4:25 PM - Arrive New York, JFK
5:35 PM - Depart New York, JFK
Delta Airlines

Wed, Mar 07 - Thur, Mar 08

8:10 AM - Arrive Berlin-Tegal, Germany
Delta Airlines

So, there it is! The amazing thing is I only paid $286! That's three weeks in advance! I was expecting to pay around $500-$600. I used a site called flights-to-europe.com. So if when you all come visit me, I'd recommend it for some cheap flights. I'd also recommend flying on a Wednesday.

my first website

Well, thanks to the magic of the Wayback Machine at Archive.org I went back in time to find my very first website. I thought it had been lost forever in time due to my carelessness.

I designed this puppy in 1996. I was in 9th grade in high school. Granted it was made through Geocites' free webpage service, but even back then I was still hand-coding HTML. It was more along the lines of what people do now on Myspace, just some copying and pasting, but it was my first headlong dive into the web.

Now, before I give you the link I have to preface it with some explanation. I was a weird little hormone filled kid back then (as I'm sure we all were as freshman in high school). I also had a pretty eccentric group of friends. We were all very creative and we probably like that weird artsy beatnik clique you see in Hollywood movies. We were really into the Beatles.

So, as a budding little creative, I wrote a lot of poetry. I put the collection of my poetry into this website. So, you have to remember I was writing it when I was an overly-emotional hormone-driven nerdy-hippie-wannabe.

Adding to that I must also address the fact that I had an unhealthy obsessive pubescent celebrity crush on Dominique Moceanu. Like, it was bad, and probably a little creepy. But I'm over it now. So, just to warn you there's a weird little online celeb-worship section. I was a little creeped out remembering that myself. I just the one saving grace of all this was I had a crush on a girl, despite all my gay poem writing. Haha!

Ok, so without mush further ado, here's (most of) my first webpage. Theres some images that got lost in the time-travel, but most the good stuff is there.

New SkypeIn Number

Today I purchased a SkypeIn number. If you've never heard of Skype, it's a great VoIP service. Ok, ok, I know. I'm starting off a little too techy some of my audience (mom).

Basically, Skype/VoIP is like having a phone on your computer. The great thing about this is that the rates are really cheap. Since you're already paying for your internet connection, VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) services don't have to charge you the insane rates you pay normal telephone companies for international or long distance calls.

Skype is a free program to download, and looks and acts much like iChat or AOL Instant Messenger. You can call other Skype users's computers for free from yours. Or you can call landlines and mobile phones from your computer for very inexpensive rates. You can even have video calls with your webcam (at a much better success rate than iChat, I've found).

What SkypeIn allows me to do is receive calls on my computer from standard phones. The great thing about this is it's a local Florida number! So you can call me like I'm in Jacksonville, but I could really be in...oh...say, Berlin?

SkypeIn also comes with free voicemail in case my computer is not turned on. So, give me a call at (904) 302-7233 and let's stay connected.
